How to make a kayak paddle from a log

Using the Router Box Profiler
rails Here are a set of rails that will be used to cut the power face of the paddle blades. There are spacers mounted at the center of each rail so that the rails will clear the sled.
in RBP Here one paddle is mounted into the router box profiler. Note that the templates (shown in red) are straight across; the blade will not be curved crosswise.
pair blades Both blades after cutting the inner profiles.
kp_4298 The blade mounted with the backface up. Note the slight rises in the template for the spline. Not shown are a new set of rails for shaping the backface.
kp_4300 After shaping the back surface some rough spots are removed and the area between the shaft and the blade needs to be blended with the spokeshave.

Okay time to do some sanding.
