How to make a paddle from a log

Page 5: Glassing and Finishing.
p21_paddle Here is the paddle after sanding. I am now epoxying a length of 1/8 inch nylon cord around the edge. I never did find any brass strips the right size to use here.
p22a_paddle I have sealed the paddle surface with a layer of epoxy and now I am getting ready to add a layer of glass.
p22_paddle Now have a layer of fiberglass on the blade. The clothes pins are only used as weights.
p23_paddle Now the paddle has glass on both sides and the glass weave has been filled. At this stage it has 4 layers of epoxy including the primer coat.
p24_paddle After sanding the epoxy surface smooth and applying three coats of marine varnish the paddles are done. You may have noticed, in the photos, that there were two paddles in the making.
Okay Norm time to go paddling!
